You got an itch to travel this winter, but do not know where to go? How about a place where you can find great hiking, golf, skiing, shopping, and ruins to explore? And in a few hours drive from another? Of course, this place is Arizona, a state that offers travelers an infinite variety of things to do in the winter.

Walking

Superstition Mountain: One of the best places for winter hiking Arizona is Superstition Mountains just east of Apache Junction, east of Phoenix. They are best known for the legendary Lost Dutchman Mon. Legend has it that the mine discovered by Jacob Waltz (the Dutchman), still contains a large cache of gold. In other words, if someone could find it. You can be among the many who have tried to find mine (some have died trying), or you can be among the many who venture to the Superstition Mountains in search of the hike. Do not forget to visit Lost Dutchman State Park, where you will find a wide variety of trails hiking and ranger-led morning and full moon hikes during the winter and spring.

Golf

Grayhawk Golf Club: Located in Scottsdale, the Grayhawk Golf Club has two golf courses, Talon and Raptor, which have been recipients of numerous accolades over the years, including "Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S. "by Golf Magazine.

Skiing

There is skiing in Arizona? Why, of course. Arizona has not only the sun in winter, but he also has a couple of points in the state where you go skiing downhill.

Sunrise Park Resort: Sunrise Park Resort is located in Greer, in the eastern part of the state, only 4 hours drive from Phoenix and Tucson. Owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe, Sunrise Park has 8 lifts and 65 trails for skiers all levels. There is also a separate snowboarding area, children's area, skiing, and tubing hill.

Snowbowl Arizona Snowbowl Arizona is on the San Francisco peaks, above Flagstaff and only a few hours from Phoenix. It offers 32 trails and 4 lifts, the Arizona Snowbowl is a the oldest continually run ski resorts in the United States. If snowboarding is more your style, they also provide a park with ground rails and boxes.

Explore Native American Ruins

You could plan a vacation together in Arizona from ruin to ruin, but if you're visiting Phoenix and you have only one day, remember to drive about an hour and a half north of I-17 at Montezuma Castle, a five-story, 12th-Century homes cliff that is home to the Sinagua people. It is a short hike on a 1/3-mile loop trail, you'll have a breathtaking view of the castle. If you have time, drive 11 miles north and visit Montezuma Well, where you can see a natural sink hole and small dwellings built in the steep walls surrounding the hole. A sink hole May sound like a big yawn, but it's really an interesting place to visit.

Shopping

If you are go to Arizona for shopping, then you probably want to head to Scottsdale, home to luxury resorts, high-end malls, art galleries, and 5th Avenue Shops. The Scottsdale Arts District in downtown Scottsdale is home to the largest concentration of art galleries in the nation, featuring a variety art, including contemporary, Western and Native American art.

Arizona can also claim some of the best centers of antiquity in the country, including the Brass Armadillo to 12,419 N. 28th Drive in Phoenix, where you can spend hours walking the rows and rows of antiques and collectibles. And, of Glendale, a small town just west of Phoenix, has so many antique shops in its downtown that has been called "Arizona's Antique Capital" by readers of local newspapers. Serious Antiquers will dedicate an entire day discovering treasures in downtown Glendale.

Of course, the above is just a handful of things to do in Arizona in winter. If you can not do everything in one trip winter, there is always spring!
