Fractal Art Galleries
Second Life is filled with artists in real life who design or Second Life or art bring their art, real life in Second Life. Conservative Elven Enchantment's was lucky enough to meet a real life Fractal Art, artist, Mr. Spiral Silverstar and he has graciously accepted the invitation to become our premier featured artist in our first exhibition.
Opening night was November 12, 2007, and will continue until November 30. Mr. Silverstar is fortunate to have one of his pieces of real life on the screen at the upcoming International Congress of Mathematicians. (Of course, it is registered under his name in real life too!)
What is Fractal Art? Maybe you'd say it's "modern" art and reject. However, I find it catches your attention and draws you into the image and captures your passion. Fractal Art consists of a indefinite number of spirals and circles using mathematical equations to give you the right distance from a spiral to another. What is the simple secular art.
A more technical definition of fractal art, and I quote Mr. Silverstar: "Simply put, fractals are shapes which have similar characteristics in different sizes. Just as a close inspection of a rock may show features Part of what happens in fractals is based on mathematics. Sometimes the calculation is complex, it may not. But you do not need to know or understand the mathematics behind the art to appreciate. The base images are created using a fractal generating software.
There are some who think that if all this is just based on mathematics, it can not be art. Fractal art does not cause zero First, notwithstanding the math. To produce an image fractal aesthetics requires a huge input from the artist. It also requires patience, and an eye for form and color skills that are required for almost any artistic discipline. Nobody can produce fractal art? The simple answer is yes. However, anyone can buy a camera and take snapshots, but very few people can produce photos that can be appreciated as art.
The images created in this gallery (added: his own Second Life and the gallery Elven Enchantment Museum and Art Gallery and the exhibition), using the Ultra Fractal and Fractal Explorer software, working with post-processing done in Photoshop.
