Milton Ernst Rauschenberg, to be known later as Robert Rauschenberg, born October 22, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas. Robert had fundamentalist Christian parents, with his father, Ernest, German and Cherokee descent, while his mother, Dora was an Anglo-Saxon. Before their marriage in 1948, the couple at Black Mountain College in North Carolina. Here, the instructor of painting a famous Bauhaus Robert Joseph Albers, Robert strongly influenced by its methods and discipline. From 1949 to 1952, Rauschenberg was to study with Vaclav Vytlacil and Morris Kantor at the Art Students League of New York. Here he also met his fellow artists, Knox Martin and Cy Twombly. From 1951, Robert saw a career with considerable success his first solo exhibition held at the Betty Parsons Gallery, followed shortly after by his second show in 1954 at the Charles Egan Gallery.

Robert 'White Paintings "(1951) were posted in October 1953, at Gallery Eleanor Ward's Stable, New York. The" white paintings "were Robert white, had no images at all. Despite this, Rauschenberg's paintings are assumed to reflect their environment through their surfaces. 1952 witnessed his league monochromatic "Black" and "Red" Paintings. These screens reflected through a mixture Robert expressions coupled brushed areas of color and collage on canvas. These forms of art by Robert Rauschenberg is known as "combined paintings, which were a mixture effective painting and sculpture. Without doubt, his paintings combined paved way for such artists interested in art rather than alternative the traditional ones.

In 1961, Robert, by invitation, participated in an exhibition of portraits of Iris Clert in his gallery, Galerie Iris Clert. In 1966, Billy Kla ¼ ver and Robert has launched a non-profit organization (NPO), Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT).
