Book clubs love The Friday Night Knitting Club-May reasons that have to do with the fact that the club into the novel by Kate Jacob holds a mirror to the same clubs that read the book. The knitting club is more than knitting ... and book clubs are much more than reading. Whether anyone in a book club can tell you, clubs are the creation and sharing of routes around lives as they are about books and ideas.

In this novel people find friendship and connection (or re-connection) in unexpected places. The trick is to be ready and not afraid to open the heart of possibilities. That some thing that Georgia Walker's hard to do, and as it turns out, she has good reasons.

A young small town girl who moves to the big city Georgia headed to New York after college to start his career in publishing. She has achieved success, made friends and fell in love all good things. Finally, almost all good things ... with one exception. Georgia became pregnant ... and alone. At the hearing of the new small package Joy, her boyfriend could not find out fairly quickly, putting an ocean between the three of them.

Faced with raising her daughter alone, George took a courageous stand. She did not head back to his home in Pennsylvania, but decided to make a go of it right where it was in New York. On the advice of an acquaintance, she has transformed her passion for knitting to make money proposition. First, she knits for commissions, open his shop eventually own son, Walker and her daughter. And this brings us to the present day, where the story begins ... or continues, depending on your point of view ..

Walker and Daughter is thriving, thank you to a recent wave of publicity. Georgia lives during the workshop Now with his preteen daughter, Dakota, and allows content to be ... if perhaps a bit lonely. Overall, however, life is beautiful, orderly, and predictable.

Spurred by 70 years, Anita, a friend nourishing, Georgia launched a knitting circle on Friday evening and fired in a variety customers and originals. Among the clicking of needles and nibbling on cookies, women engage in gossip and soon begin to share bits and pieces themselves as they weave their son's intimate life.

Here is Darwin Chiu down with a troubled marriage, Lucia, a mother soon-to-be for the first time without a man in her life; KC whose career has stalled, and who spends his nights designing handbags after her days as a employee of the shop son. The story tends to drag a bit here because it allows all knitters a chance to unravel their stories. But gradually picks up when moving own history of Georgia to the forefront.

Two people make their re-entry into the life of Georgia. Or they try, like Georgia struggling with the opening set itself once again, to any injured individual. The first Cat a school friend who once betrayed Georgia, now a glamorous woman, wants Georgia to knit a dress and is willing to pay a very heavy tax. Georgia Not sure she can ever trust this egocentric woman again.

The second James, former lover of Georgia Dakota and father a brilliant success by African American architect return to England. James is convinced that Dakota may provide a link with her black heritage his white mother can not. Shower Dakota with attention and gifts, he is determined to get back into the life of the mother and daughter. Georgia is suspicious wondering if she can call her forgiveness after 12 years of abandonment.

The climax of the novel revolves around a trip to Scotland with the Dakota and the Cat in tow-grandmother to visit Georgia. It turns out that Gran offers wisdom in both Georgia and chatting, encouraging both to make necessary changes in their lives. Georgia, in particular, she advises to live in the present and stop obsessing over What in the past.

An unexpected twist of fate makes life of Georgia on the head when she learns that the strength and self-protection is not always the answer. The first novel by Kate Jacob is extremely readable readers follow heroine convincingly by the tragedy to acceptance.
